Paul Amores
Paul is completing a PhD in the Economics program, and has a Bachelor of Economics (Hons) from the University of Sydney. His PhD focuses on the role of mental health as a pathway for intergenerational disadvantage. He is currently working as a health economist at the University of Melbourne, and previously as an economist with the Australian Department of Employment and Workplace Relations. He has expertise in applied microeconometrics, causal inference, panel data methods, and the analysis of large administrative databases.
Research Interest
Paul’s research focuses on the role of mental health as a pathway for intergenerational disadvantage. His first paper uses the Youth in Focus survey to look at the relationship between mental health and economic activity. His second and third papers use administrative income support data to examine the relationship between mental health and unemployment benefit reliance.
