A unique feature of research within the Crawford School is our innovative use of qualitative and quantitative methods. We use world leading statistical analyses, cutting edge qualitative methods and combinations of these to provide deep insight into policy solutions.

Dedicated to research on the economies and societies of the South Asia region, exploring their unique challenges, opportunities, and dynamics.

The centre for research, teaching, and outreach on the Japanese economy in Australia, focusing on the Australia-Japan relationship and their role in the Asia Pacific economy.

Australian Basic Income Lab

Centre for Applied Macroeconomic Analysis

Centre for Climate and Energy Policy

Centre for Water Economics, Environment, and Policy

Development Policy Centre

A think tank for aid and development serving Australia, the region, and the world. We conduct research to improve Australian aid, support PNG and the Pacific, and advance global development policy.

East Asian Bureau of Economic Research

A forum for high-quality economic research focussing on issues facing East Asian economies. It comprises representatives from Japan, China, S. Korea, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Thailand, Malaysia, the Philippines, Indonesia and Australia.

Hub for Vietnam Policy Studies

A network of researchers and experts with a strong track record in scholarly and policy activities related to Vietnam.

Indonesia Project

One the world’s leading centres for research, policy development and graduate training on Indonesia. Our research is recognized for its ongoing role in informing Indonesian economic and social policy development.

Social Policy Institute

A network committed to multi-disciplinary and collaborative research on social policy issues in Australia and internationally.

Tax and Transfer Policy Institute

Contributes to public policy by improving understanding, building the evidence base, and promoting the study, discussion and debate of the economic and social impacts of the tax and transfer system.

The Water Justice Hub

Addresses water injustice and promotes ‘voice’ and truth-telling. Primarily focused on Australia, especially justice for First Peoples, it also tackles global challenges related to achieving ‘water for all’ and Sustainable Development Goals.
