
Dr Nobuaki Yamashita
Nobuaki “Nobu” Yamashita has research interests in global value chains (GVCs), international business, and innovation with a focus on enterprise performance. His studies cover dynamic Asian countries - Japan, China, Vietnam, and other ASEAN countries.
He is an Adjunct Research Fellow at the Centre for Transformative Innovation (CTI) at Swinburne University. He is also a Fellow at the Australia-Japan Research Centre (AJRC), the Australian National University (ANU) and a Specially appointed Visiting Associate Professor at the Department of Economics, Keio University in Tokyo.
He has extensive consulting experience for International Organisations such as the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UN-ESCAP) in Bangkok, the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in Manila, ADB Institute (ADBI) in Tokyo, and the Economics Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asian countries (ERIA) in Jakarta. He serves as an Associate Editor to Asian Economic Journal and is an Elected Fellow of the East Asian Economic Association (EAEA).
Nobu received his PhD in Economics from ANU in 2008, together with Graduate Certificate in Applied Statistics and Graduate Diploma in Economics in 2004. He obtained several research awards, including the J.G. Crawford Award at ANU in 2008, the Dean’s Research Award at La Trobe University in 2012, and the Japan Foundation Fellowship in 2014.
