Dr Larry Liu

PhD, The Australian National University

I am an economist at the Centre of Applied Macroeconomic Analysis (CAMA) in the Crawford School of Public Policy at the Australian National University (ANU). I am also affiliated with the Arndt-Corden Department of Economics (ACDE) and the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence in Population Ageing Research (CEPAR, 2018-2024). I am also a chief investigator at the Australian National Health and Medical Research Council Centre of Excellence in Stronger Investments for Infectious Diseases (STRIDE, 2024-2028). I hold a PhD in economics from ANU, and a master in economics and a bachelor in computer science from Shanghai Jiao Tong University China. 

Research Interest

I am broadly interested in macroeconomics, public economics and international economics, and particularly interested in  long-term global economic issues, including global demographic change, international climate policies, and global collective action. Technically, I have been working on general equilibrium modeling, including computable general equilibrium models, dynamic general equilibrium models, and overlapping generation models. I am also interested in econometric skills especially vector autoregressive models, and causal inference approaches.
