This specialisation provides students with the opportunity for advanced understanding of national and international macroeconomic policy, monetary and finance policy and central banking. This specialisation will also provide students with the opportunity to develop skills in computable general equilibrium modelling and time series econometrics and forecasting.

Microeconomic Policy

Microeconomic Policy: develop an advanced understanding of microeconomic policy and evaluation. This specialisation will also provide students with the skills in econometrics.

A sound microeconomic approach to real-world problems and the development of policy and programs to deliver improvements in economic welfare rely upon advanced economic knowledge and technical know-how. This specialisation provides students with advanced understanding of microeconomic policy and evaluation. This specialisation will also provide students with the skills in econometrics. To maximise learning and career outcomes for those in government, banking and finance across public, private and non-government sectors, an Academic Convenor provides advice on course planning, events of interest and meets regularly with the group.

The focus of the Master of International and Development Economics on national and global economic issues attracts influential development and economic professionals from across the region.

Graduate Certificate of International and Development Economics

For those unable to commit to the full 2 year (full-time) program, there are multiple pathway options for this degree including the Graduate Certificate of International and Development Economics. This 24-unit (6 months, full-time) certificate provides an introduction to the immersive Master's experience, as well as an option for an early exit. 

The Graduate Certificate of International and Development Economics is designed for students seeking to start or advance their careers in international development. 

This program, offered by The Australian National University's (ANU) Crawford School of Public Policy, combines the theoretical and practical expertise of leading academics. By the end of this course you will: 

  • Understand and be able to analyse economic policies; 

  • Use economic concepts and methods to analyse key issues in international and development economics; 

  • Engage with academic literature in applied economics and economic policy.
