Happy Holidays from the Crawford School
What a year it’s been at the Crawford School of Public Policy! In 2024, we hosted impactful country updates on Indonesia, Japan, China, PNG, and Vietnam, exploring their economic and policy landscapes. We also held the First Nations Women in Public Policy event, which sparked important conversations on truth-telling, reconciliation, and advancing Indigenous rights.
Our delegation visits to Indonesia and Papua New Guinea further strengthened our academic and policy ties. In Indonesia, we deepened relationships with government officials, academics, and industry leaders, focusing on shared challenges and future collaborations in sustainable development. In Papua New Guinea, we advanced partnerships in governance and public policy, fostering deeper connections between our two countries.
Our Crawford School Alumni Dialogue events in Jakarta, Yogyakarta, and Port Moresby were highlights, strengthening global connections with our wonderful alumni abroad.
Our academics continued to lead, receiving prestigious awards, joining influential government advisory boards, and securing competitive research grants. They also contributed to critical discussions on a wide range of topics, including economics, energy transition, climate change, water governance, gender inequality, children’s rights and many more, while advocating for climate justice at the UN Climate Change Conference in Azerbaijan.
In addition, we had the privilege of welcoming distinguished guests, including Ambassadors and government officials from across the Asia-Pacific region. We were honoured to have the Development Policy Centre’s work praised in the address of the Prime Minister of Papua New Guinea.
Most importantly, we farewelled our graduates as they embarked on exciting new journeys. Their dedication and hard work have been central to our school’s success, and we are proud to see them take the next step in their careers and life.
We want to thank the entire Crawford School community for making this year so special. Your involvement in our activities and invaluable contributions have been key to our success and impact. Looking ahead, we are excited for what 2025 holds!
