Huge congratulations to Professor Paul Burke on being awarded the Distinguished Fellow award from the Australasian Agricultural and Resource Economics Society (AARES) at the AARES 2025 Conference in Brisbane!
This prestigious recognition honours his outstanding contributions, leadership, and dedication to the field of agricultural and resource economics, as well as his significant impact on AARES itself.
Reflecting on the honour, Professor Burke shared:
"It is an honour to become a Distinguished Fellow of AARES - an Association that has played such an important role for many applied economists in the region since it was founded in 1957. The region faces multifaceted environmental and resource challenges, and the work being done by colleagues in AARES makes a real difference."
Dr Sorada Tapsuwan, Immediate Past President of AARES, recognised Professor Burke as one of Australia’s leading energy and environmental economists, internationally renowned for his significant contributions to energy economics - especially his work advancing the Asia-Pacific region’s transition to a zero-carbon economy.
We also extend our congratulations to the other two Distinguished Fellows for 2024, Professor Nicholas Piggott (NC State University) and Professor Renato Villano (University of New England).
Please join us in celebrating Professor Burke’s incredible achievement and his continued leadership in shaping the future of energy and environmental economics.
